Pokemon BW: It's Winter?

I thought there would be some kind of cinematic or something to mark winter's arrival, so I was a little taken aback when I ran into a building for something real quick and when I came back out, BAM, winter.

I can't help but feel that this was some elaborate April Fools joke concocted by Nintendo.

And yes, my Scrafty's name is McAwesome.
