Against the Velvet Sky

Icy cold chills ran down his spine... He shivered involuntarily and whirled on the spot, glancing around himself warily. It wasn't a cold night... And yet he felt as if his very blood was running cold. And he couldn't escape the feeling that someone was watching him, or following him... It was unnerving, to say the least. The young man ran a somewhat shaky hand through his hair and turned, continuing his walk home. Perhaps deciding to walk home instead of taking his mother's car had been a mistake after all.
A dark, echoing laugh came from somewhere to his right... The young man jumped, despite his silent resolution to keep his cool. He turned towards the source of the noise; a thin figure standing on a small hill, silhouetted against the dark night sky, a yellow moon hanging above them half-covered in clouds.
His heart pounding painfully against his ribs, the young man took an unsteady step backwards. "Who are you?! What the hell do you want?" he shouted, wishing his voice hadn't cracked. The clouds veiling the moon drifted slowly from their position, moving lazily across the sky as if on cue; the moonlight cast new light on the figure-- a tall, thin skeleton in a striped suit, wearing a sinister expression. The young man had no words, he merely stood there, shaking... The skeletal figure chose then to reveal leathery, ebony wings that slowly expanded from his back, stretching out against the velvet sky. His smile widened.
"Happy Halloween," the Pumpkin King said with a high-pitched cackle.
A terrified scream tore through the air; Halloween had officially begun.

Nyaa. ^_^ How I do love the smexy King of Halloween... I felt the urge to draw him with cool wings, and then this little story popped out... You know how it goes. (Right?! ) Too bad I didn't make this closer to Halloween. Oh well, I'll just draw more Jack laterz.

I really like the sky. And the wings, too. Oh, and Jack. Cause he's the smex.
